51-53 Argyle Street, Cambridge

We have recently completed two new terrace houses in Mill Road conservation area for local developers Inti Construction.

The small speculative housing development in Argyle Street replaces a car repair garage, in a tight urban site, removing contaminated soil and reinstating new garden land.

Rather than the typical ’two up - two down’ we introduced highly sustainable three beds and generous modern ground floor living spaces with light filled kitchens enjoying front to back views. Both family homes comply with Part M(4)2 accessibility requirements, allowing them to be adapted to generational needs.

The frontages conclude the existing modest terrace with sensitive and crafted details, hoping to add our small contribution to the existing street of railway workers’ houses.

Winner of the Best New Building – Under £2m Construction Costs in the  Greater Cambridge Design and Construction Awards 2023.

This project had a strong design-led approach (including decorative brickwork and sensitive placing and sizing of windows), creating two charming and contemporary new homes from both the exterior and interior perspectives. (Judges’ Comments).
